AMAZE Sequencer

Immersive experience - Concept design, Sound design, Programming, UX Design

AMAZE SEQUENCER is an immersive, interactive experience developed in collaboration with AMAZE Amsterdam, designed to give visitors the chance to step into the shoes of a DJ and create their own live sound show. Using three touch panels, each dedicated to a specific set of musical elements, the concept invites users to explore the art of DJing in a completely new way:

  • Percussion

  • Bass, Keys & Fills

  • Pad, Lead & Fills

Each panel features multiple sound sequences that blend together seamlessly, allowing visitors to mix and layer different tracks in real time. By interacting with these panels, users have the power to build their own unique soundscape, crafting an evolving mix of beats, melodies, and harmonies. As they experiment with different combinations, the space around them responds in real-time: the lights in the room pulse and shift, reacting to the music and enhancing the overall sensory experience.

For a brief moment, visitors are transported into the role of a DJ, feeling the rush of excitement and anticipation as they control the music and see how their choices shape the atmosphere. The experience is designed to evoke the energy of a live performance, complete with the electrifying buzz of a crowd and the thrill of creating something in the moment.

The immersive experience is further amplified by dynamic entry soundscapes and spotlights, which transform the entire room into a vibrant, ever-changing sound and light world. This multi-sensory environment pulls visitors in, engaging them in the act of music creation while offering a glimpse into the adrenaline-filled world of live DJing. Whether it’s the building anticipation or the euphoric release of the final mix, AMAZE SEQUENCER invites visitors to feel what it’s like to be at the center of the music.

The challenge of this project was to ensure that users remained in a focused and immersive flow state throughout the entire experience, without any disruptions or breaks in their engagement. From the moment they entered to the moment they left, every element needed to work seamlessly together to maintain the sense of immersion and keep them fully absorbed in the experience.

This meant that all aspects—whether it was the design of the interface, the timing of the sound and visual cues, or the flow of interactions—had to be meticulously crafted to fit into the larger narrative of the experience. Each component had to feel purposeful, contributing to the overall atmosphere and reinforcing the user's connection to the space around them. The goal was to make sure that every action, every transition, and every sensory detail flowed naturally, so users could stay in a continuous state of excitement and focus without anything pulling them out of the experience.

By maintaining this delicate balance, the project ensured that the immersion was not only uninterrupted, but fully realized, offering users an engaging, memorable experience from start to finish.
